Abdel has more than 16 years of experience in the design of mechanical systems for healthcare, commercial, industrial, K-12, mixed-use and high-end residential projects. He is a strong advocate for green/sustainable and Net Zero Energy design and is a LEED AP with two designations: Building Design+ Construction(BD+C) and Homes. He brings specialized expertise in complex renovations and phasing in hospitals and the design of buildings located inside oil refineries and/or in hazardous areas.
He has published numerous papers and articles including the ASHRAE journal; he regularly speaks at conferences and symposiums sharing his knowledge with the industry. Abdel is the co-editor of the 4th edition of the upcoming ASHRAE Green Guide and a member of ASHRAE SSPC 62.1, the committee overseeing the national standard on Indoor Air Quality, and is one of the only 19 certified Healthcare Facility Design Professional (HFDP) in California.
